Love and Good Works

Today : Love and Good Works

TODAY’S VERSE
“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.” Hebrews 10:24 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Jesus never intended us to be church dwellers, He wanted us to be field workers. He didn’t go around setting up new synagogues in His name so we could worship. Instead, He called us to participate in His mission. Now assembling together to worship, learn and encourage one another is definitely important. Right after today’s passage the author writes, “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another.” However, if you really want to know what is near to the heart of Jesus, read Matthew chapter nine. Matthew wrote, “Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”’ And so the author of Hebrews compels us to join Jesus by spending time to really come up with ways to encourage one another to act out His mission of love. Today, let’s join together and participate in acts of love and good works.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, Your compassion is boundless and Your mission is clear. Help me to live like You. Help me love and serve others like You did. Guide me, Lord, and empower me with Your Holy Spirit I pray.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I choose to love others
Relax, and in your mind picture Christ going from town to town. He is compassionate, merciful and helping everyone He can. He is going to the next town and then He sees you. He calls you over and says, “Join me in helping others.” Sense His passion and the importance of the mission He has called you to. When ready, say back to Jesus, “Jesus, empower me to love as You love and to serve as You serve.”
